Jeepsters Lair

sig-randomiser is written by yours truly. It was born simply because one day I searched the web but could not find what I was looking for. Soon after sig-randomiser was born.

sig-randomiser is really the wrong name as what it really does is add a random tagline. Still, it started with that name and now it is stuck with it.

Over time it grew into something useful. I use it all the time now with claws-mail to add a random signature file to all emails and Usenet posts.

I release it now for everyone who has wanted what sig-randomiser does.

There is a slackware and derivatives/ports package here and a Folder listing here.

As sig-randomiser uses nothing more than a bash shell and most/more/less it should work on every Linux OS and on *BSD with bash installed. For those not using slackware or a derivative or port of it, there is a simple tarball here and a bz2ball here, which you can simply extract and either move/copy the contents following this page or even simpler put the whole extracted folder somewhere in your system (your home folder is as good as any other) and it should work with the relevant switches in use once your email/Usenet client is told where to look for it.

I have not created an installer because I don't think one is necessary. However, if there are enough people using it or even just looking at it, I may reconsider and create a simple installer for it.

I hope you find sig-randomiser useful and that if you make any changes to the main script that you send me them so I can perhaps incorperate them into a new release.

It would also be nice if you simply email me (address in the docs) so I know if anyone is using it.

Have fun.
