The Smart Package Manager project has the ambitious objective of creating smart and portable algorithms
for solving adequately the problem of managing software upgrading and installation. This tool works in
all major distributions, and will bring notable advantages over native tools currently in use (APT,
APT-RPM, YUM, URPMI, etc).
Notice that this project is not a magical bridge between every distribution in the planet. Instead, this
is a software offering better package management for these distributions, even when working with their
own packages. Using multiple package managers at the same time (like rpm and dpkg) is possible, even
though not the software goal at this moment.
That above is from the smart home page. I urge all slackware, slamd64 and bluewhite64 users to give this
program a try. In the smart folder you can find all the bits you need to
build a Slackware build script.
The package in the slackpak folder was built against slamd64-current. For bluewhite64, slackware itself
and all other derivatives I suggest you grab the build script, slack-desc and sources and build it locally.
Folder listing here.
Perhaps I should start uploading some of the other packages I do? Please let me know at boss (@) jeepster (.) org (.) uk (mangled)
Have fun.
